You need to force detection at boot with "append=x,x,x,x," added in your /etc/lilo.conf file. Documentation should be in the man lilo file. I'm not at my seat at home right now so I can't be more specific. I have the same card and it works fine when you do this.

Thank you. I have tried to build (yet another new kernel) for a machine that has the now usual pri/sec ide and a new Adaptec 1505 scsi card. The card is recognized by the machine's bios. The kernel builds ok and the module is created but will not load. The errors that I get are: modprobe: Can't locate module aha152x.o frodo:/lib/modules/2.2.13/scsi# modprobe aha152x /lib/modules/2.2.13/scsi/aha152x.o: init_module: Device or resource busy /lib/modules/2.2.13/scsi/aha152x.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.13/scsi/aha152x.o failed /lib/modules/2.2.13/scsi/aha152x.o: insmod aha152x failed It seems that this is the sort of response that is received when a card is not found but the modules.
