The only packages I'm aware of that were more or less designed for
developing powerpointesque presentations are "mgp" and "egon".
Personally, I find animations and fancy special effects in presentations
distracting from the content. Usually I prepare my presentations in LaTeX
using its slides class; lately I've been using PDF as the final output
format as it preserves layout and is usable on many systems (including the
windows machines people typically seem to use for driving beamers); see
