Hi There, You can stop xdm from coming on and giving you that little X login window by removing xdm from /etc/init.d. I just copy things into a subdirctory /etc/init.d/disabled when I don't want them to start up on boot. That way, if I ever change my mind, which I often do, I can easily copy them back and get things restored.
Another way that X is sometimes started automatically is to run startx from a .login script. If that's the case, just edit the script so it doesn't run startx. cheers. -- kevin ******************************************************************************* Kevin M.
