i noticed a problem today with those debs. For the past few days, i've
been slightly annoyed because pine seemed to be ignoring the settings in
/etc/pine.conf. Finally, this annoyed me enough to seek and destroy the
bug.

A quick strace tole me that it was looking for /usr/local/lib/pine.conf
instead of /etc/pine.conf. A grep through the source revealed that the
only changes needed are in pine/osdep/os-lnx.h, lines 163 and 164. If you
want to make it correct for non-Linux compiles, change the appropriate
lines in the appropriate os-*.h file as well. And if you really want to be
consistent, there's a dozen or so references in the documentation that
make no difference to the program's functionality.

Made the change, recompiled, and it appears to read the config file fine.

i compiled from source, so i don't know if it exists in the binary
packages. i'd guess it does, though.
