I'm a new user to debian too. The thing is that these compiler message results in the error so they are not warnings but errors. I've also been getting those exact messages from ldconfig but they didn't seem to be troublesome. I had to install emacs19 along with 20 but as soon as my system was configured it was out of there because it was causing too many conflicts with version 20.
