I never could get urpmi to work right. I was back in the 7.2-8.0 days. Note that since apt & dpkg came 1st, urpmi & rpm are like them, not vice versa... Having Mdk as a first exposure to Linux was invaluable to me, because it installed very easy, and rpm is simple, so that I wasn't overwhelmed by apt-*.
