Hi, I am running potato and im doing upgrade quite often. Regularly I get this kind of message when doing apt-get dist-upgrade:
Preparing to replace dpkg 1.4.1.6 (using .../archives/dpkg_1.4.1.8_i386.deb) ... Unpacking replacement dpkg ... dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/dpkg_1.4.1.8_i386.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite `/usr/share/man/man1/dpkg-buildpackage.1.gz', which is also in package dpkg-dev dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe) Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/dpkg_1.4.1.8_i386.deb E: Sub-process returned an error code (1) Of course I can solve the problem by manually installing the package with --force-overwrite, but it is still annoying. How can I configure apt so that it can resolve such issues itself? Or is it a bug in the package? configuration on my system? Thanks, -Lex
