Perl-base is a required package in the section base, so it should always be available on any Debian system. For these kind of packages, no dependency is needed (never noticed that there are few depenencies on bash :). The package perl-base is a bare version of perl, the pakcage perl contains the rest of it. Tot ziens, Bart-Jan
