I don't have first hand experience but the HP Deskjet 340 is a PCL-3
printer. PCL-3 printers are very well supported by various gs drivers.
According to the hpdj driver that is compiled into the gs-aladdin Debian
package:
"So far I have not heard of a PCL-3 printer which cannot be
driven by hpdj."
