There should be somewhere a file named window-managers. If you change in that file wmaker to be the topmost-one, it will be started first. (By the way, I'm regularly using ee (the easy editor) for such kind jobs. It is meant for the newbies with the computers and it seems to be the best one after you get tired with these machines after some 10 year's of using them...) -hv
