For auto poweroff at shutdown, you need to compile the kernel with APM
(Advanced Power Management). This isn't enable with the default kernel.
Get your system up and running first. Remember to always use a command
such as "halt", "poweroff", or "shutdown" to stop the machine. Then hit
the power switch.
