I suggest that you use xf86config. I find that this sets up the /etc/X11/XF86Config file quite well. (I haven't used XF85Setup.) You'll need to know your monitors scan rates and stuff, though. You may have to fiddle with the /etc/X11/XF86Config after though to tweek it optimally.
