The man page says this: It is important to list sources in order of preference, with the most preferred source listed first. Typically this will result in sorting by speed from fastest to slow est (CD-ROM followed by hosts on a local network, followed by distant Internet hosts, for example). The ordering only specifies where to go if two places have the same packages. Specificaly you can put your new source either first or last and get exactly the result you would want. Jason
