Ahhhhhhhhh .... that might be it ..... I used wvdial and don't recall it
asking about
DNS stuff although ifconfig worked like it should and I could ping some
known
IP addresses. I am impressed with the user friendliness of wvdial though,
its a
really pleasant change after all the weird stuff apparently typical of unix
