-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hey all. I'm in the process of constructing a new workstation for myself, and I would like advice on SCSI hardware. I was looking at the Adaptec 2940UW controller, but I don't really know enough about SCSI to know if this is the right one for me. What really confuses me is all the different SCSI revisions (II, Wide, Ultra Wide, U2W, III, etc). If I get the 2940UW controller, do I need to worry about compatibility with other SCSI revisions? I have searched deja.com extensively, and I did see somebody mention that SCSI devices negotiate many of the details regarding bus widths and speeds, but I'm still not confident that I'd be making the right decision of I was to buy any devices with the knowledge I currently have. Any information would be appreciated, especially online references.
