Try MySQL. It's a free database server. It is supported by Linux. got to www.mysql.org. You 'll also need DBI. Sounds like a good Perl/MySql project. You can also download DBI from the web. Check out www.perl.org and search for DBI. You'll also need a MySQL module. You'll find all the info in the DBI an MYSql pages.
