Except in rare cases, you don't want to run wmaker yourself. What you should do is make a file .xsession in your home directory that tells X what to do on start-up, then run startx. Try typing this sequence: cat > ~/.xsession exec /usr/X11R6/bin/wmaker (then press control-D) startx The first line creates a file called .xsession in your home directory ("~" means home), with the contents "exec /usr/X11R6/bin/wmaker". The control-D indicates you're done putting stuff in the file. Then startx loads X. Of course, for the usual reasons (including safety against accidents, and security) you should use your normal user account for your daily work. Hope this helps. -- William Ono <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> PGP key: 0x93BA6AFD fingerprint = E3 64 C5 43 3E B3 2D A6 C6 D7 E3 45 90 24 78 DE = fingerprint PGP-encrypted mail welcome!
