makes my PPP connection SIGHUP. I have been experimenting with my problem and here is what's happening:
I can connect to my ISP from the console, and stay connected all day if I want to (and I do some days). I can connect to my ISP in Xwindows and stay connected all day, if I want to. When I then start Navigator, I am always disconnected within a minute from my ISP. The ppplog says only SIGHUP. Here is a slice from plog: (using kdebug 1) Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp_tty_read: passing 14 bytes up Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 pppd[455]: rcvd [IPCP ConfNak id=0x1 <addr 204.42.56.97>] Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 pppd[455]: sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x2 <addr 204.42.56.97> <compress VJ 0f 01>] Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp_dev_xmit_lower: fcs is e0c Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp_dev_xmit: writing 22 chars Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp: successfully queued 18 bytes, flags = f010043 Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp_tty_read: called buf=080645c0 nr=1504 Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp_tty_read: len = 18 Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp_tty_read: passing 20 bytes up Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 pppd[455]: rcvd [IPCP ConfAck id=0x2 <addr 204.42.56.97> <compress VJ 0f 01>] Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: get flags: addr bffff970 flags f000043 Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: set maxcid to 16 Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: set flags to f010047 Mar 31 14:45:46 pc1 kernel: ppp: channel ppp0 going up for IP packets! I am totally baffled by this and don't even know how to go about tracking down the problem. Sometmes it happens just when Alt-tabbing to an open, idle Netscape.
