I don't know about if its compatible or not but there are a few
changes for 2.2.x. The old lp1 is now lp0 so you have to change that
in /etc/printcap.

Real computer scientists despise the idea of actual hardware. Hardware
has limitations, software doesn't. It's a real shame that Turing
machines are so poor at I/O.
