No, it's not your system. I just checked and ftp1.us.debian.org is just an alias for http.us.debian.org. Also, when I try to update from http.us.debian.org I get errors almost identical to yours... and I am running apt_0.3.0 My best guess would be a mirror problem. Any body know some *working* mirrors to test? -Mitch
