The only problem/difference with --system is that the adduser command will not create a unique group for the uid. It will create the group as 'daemon' IIRC. I did not see a way to create a system user that also created a system group to go along with the system user. But not saying --system followed the UPG scheme by default. Which I followed since the OP has listed creating a unique group as well with the original commands. Bob
