I'm in the same situation. You can tell dselect to ignore dependencies by using R and Q. Unfortunately, you have to tell it each time you use it. I believe dselect doesn't use much force when installing, so it's not as dangerous as it sounds. AFAIK the hamm and slink libc6 are fairly similar, anyway.
