This is not a fetchmail problem, it is your smtp software. (exim/smail/ sendmail/...) It is set up to allow mail to/from only some domains, debian.virtual.de.host is apparently not one of them. You may have to set it up so it appends a default domain when you enter only a username too. A reason for having such a strict smtp system is spam blocking, spammers tend to use forged addresses/domains and having your machine reject such things is generally a good idea. Helge Hafting
