<<<excerpt>>> When I get to the step Install Kernel and Modules, I can't find the original Win95 harddrive with the Linux files on it to continue. Do I need to make a DOS partition on the 814MB harddrive and copy the C:\Linux directory to that? or do I need to make the 814MB hard the master disk? <<<snip>>>
The Win95 drive is prob. hda1. You can either execute a shell and use the mount command to mount the Win95 drive to a directory, and then use the "mounted filesystem" option as a location; or I think you can tell the installation program to look for the base archive on hda, etc. <<<excerpt>>> I guess the overall question I have is, Is it possible to add a drive to an existing Win95 system and install Linux on the new drive without erasing the Win95 drive? <<<snip>>> You bet. no problem at all. I would like to setup a dual boot - LILO right? I've read all the other messages on that as well, and it doesn't seem too hard, once i get the rest set up. <<<snip>>> But, LILO will be installed on the slave drive? So you can't use it as the boot loader. Win95 is on the primary drive, so you'll use it as the bootloader and then run LOADLIN from within Windows (DOS, really) to boot your linux system. If, on the other hand, you switch the hard drives (physically, I mean, by re-connecting) so that the Linux disk is primary, then you can use LILO as the bootloader and set it up to dual boot that way -- as we have been discussing. That's what I would do, since I like LILO as a bootloader. ========================== [EMAIL PROTECTED] ==========================
