Problem was:
"cottmain" == cottmain <Daniel> writes: ..snip ..
new kernel: fails to get ip at boot, works after'pump'
Solution from Shyamal:
If you built your own kernel be sure to set CONFIG_PACKET and
CONFIG_NETFILTER otherwise dhpcd will not work.
