I wanted to do the same. I did not find a program to do it for me, so I had to do it myself. I changed the ServerType line in httpd.conf, and then I had to add my own line to the inetd thingy. You know about update-inetd, so you can do that. As far as I can remember that's all I had to do, and it's worked fine since then.
