Well, you need quite a few:

xbase
xlib6g
xserver-svga
xfnt75 (for example - xfnt100 would also do)
xserver-vga16 (I don't know if you really need this, but it contains
               the config program. Perhaps you can remove it after
               configuration?)

...and every package that these depend on.
