Um, on my Debian 2.0 with the 3.3.2.3-2 version of the X11 Debian
packages I have

% ls -l /usr/lib/X11
   0 lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root           16 Sep 20 21:11 /usr/lib/X11 -> 
../X11R6/lib/X11/

So they are linked and a rm -frv /usr/lib/X11 would make your system
FUBAR.
