sorry if this sounds stupid, but do you really have your modem on /dev/ttyS2? Does your minicom or something similar work? The reason I'm asking this is that my USR 33.6 (which I can't imagine being any diff than 28.8) was preset at /dev/ttyS1 (which is DOS com2..) HTH damir
