Travelling the other way, with a company noteboook from Germany to the US, was no big problem - the power supply was specified at 110-230 V (same for electric shaver), and the PCMCIA modem card worked fine in the US telephone network. Check whether your power supplies support 230 V 50Hz AC, then you're fine here. The easiest way to get Internet access is probably to get an AOL or CompuServe account before you leave -- these have dial-in points in most German cities. And keep in mind that even local calls are metered here. Cheapest time is after 9pm every day (1.81 DM/hour); Mo-Fr before 9am and after 6pm and weekend daytime is 2.90 DM/hour, and Mo-Fr daytime is 4.84 DM/hour (Deutsche Telekom still have a de-facto-monopoly on the last mile and are milking the people for all they can get).
