Travelling the other way, with a company noteboook from Germany to the
US, was no big problem - the power supply was specified at 110-230 V
(same for electric shaver), and the PCMCIA modem card worked fine in
the US telephone network.  Check whether your power supplies support
230 V 50Hz AC, then you're fine here.

The easiest way to get Internet access is probably to get an AOL or
CompuServe account before you leave -- these have dial-in points in
most German cities.

And keep in mind that even local calls are metered here.  Cheapest
time is after 9pm every day (1.81 DM/hour); Mo-Fr before 9am and after
6pm and weekend daytime is 2.90 DM/hour, and Mo-Fr daytime is 4.84
DM/hour (Deutsche Telekom still have a de-facto-monopoly on the last
mile and are milking the people for all they can get).
