How can devfsd be removed safely? I have purged the package, cleaned out /dev and reconstructed the device files with `MAKEDEV generic', but the partition is then unbootable. On boot, fsck reports: "fsck.ext3: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/hda6".
To recover, I have booted another partition, mounted hda6 on /mnt, chrooted into hda6 and re-installed devfsd. This is reproducible - I have done it three times. Regards, Bob -- _ |_) _ |_ Robert D.
