It will show both. However, it could show you text that, as far as Word is concerned, is no longer in the document. Also the changes might be stored such that they can't be read by themselves but they change the meaning of the original significantly. But Ted is correct when he says it's (a) useful and (b) rough and ready and I jumped on him a bit too much.
