I am using a Rage Pro card in my Compaq - you need the latest Mach64 server - it's 3.3.2 or 3.3.4 or something like that (I'm at work and can't check right now!). The 3.3 server doesn't work with the Rage Pro chip... I used dselect at ftp.debian.org to update - I was referred to xfree86.org, but checked there and the new one is out in the distributions according to them.
