Hi all, A few days ago i installed gcc-2.8.1 in /usr, by mistake, thus overwriting gcc_2.7.2.3 that is to be used when compiling the kernel in debian distribution. Than i run 'make uninstall' for gcc-2.8.1 and tried to reinstall gcc_2.7.2.3-3.deb. I gon the following cryptic message:
> Unpacking gcc (from gcc_2.7.2.3-3.deb) ... > dpkg: error processing gcc_2.7.2.3-3.deb (--install): > trying to overwrite `/usr/bin/g++', which is also in package g++ > dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe) > Errors were encountered while processing: > gcc_2.7.2.3-3.deb I think that messages like 'error processing ...' without intelligible hints about what problem has been encountered should be avoided. Moreover /usr/bin/g++ seems to be a regular file ... Lastly: what does it mean (to common users) the sentence:'subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)' ? Can anybody explain me how to re-install gcc_2.7.2.3 ? thank you Paolo Pumilia --- cstc - -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
