Hi, I've got two computers here, both with an (about) 3 weeks old debian-hamm distribution, one P90, and one PII-233. On the P90 I can setup a ppp connection to cistron.nl (posing as provider), but my PII-233 refuses to do the same.
The thing is when running "dip -v dip-script", the output on both computers is identical. The only difference seems to be that on the P90, a couple of seconds after dip shows the protocol number (5) and exits, I have a ppp connection. On the PII-233, all that happens a couple of seconds after "dip" exits is that the phone line disconnects. I've just copied all config files from ppp and dip from the P90 to the PII-233, but it still doesn't work (see logfiles below). Has anyone any idea how I could solve this? Thanks! >From my /var/log/syslog (muso = PII-233): May 21 13:15:03 muso pppd[1020]: pppd 2.3.3 started by root, uid 0 May 21 13:15:03 muso pppd[1020]: Using interface ppp0 May 21 13:15:03 muso pppd[1020]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS3 May 21 13:15:03 muso pppd[1020]: sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0xffff044e> <pcomp> <accomp>] May 21 13:15:03 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [LCP ConfAck id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0xffff044e> <pcomp> <accomp>] May 21 13:15:06 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [LCP ConfReq id=0x2 <mru 576> <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0x988ec292> <pcomp> <accomp>] May 21 13:15:06 muso pppd[1020]: sent [LCP ConfAck id=0x2 <mru 576> <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0x988ec292> <pcomp> <accomp>] May 21 13:15:06 muso pppd[1020]: sent [LCP EchoReq id=0x0 magic=0xffff044e] May 21 13:15:06 muso pppd[1020]: sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x1 <addr 195.64.69.173> <compress VJ 0f 01>] May 21 13:15:06 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x1 <compress VJ 0f 00> <addr 195.64.64.1>] May 21 13:15:06 muso pppd[1020]: sent [IPCP ConfNak id=0x1 <addr 195.64.68.15>] May 21 13:15:06 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [LCP EchoRep id=0x0 magic=0x988ec292] May 21 13:15:06 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [IPCP ConfAck id=0x1 <addr 195.64.69.173> <compress VJ 0f 01>] May 21 13:15:06 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x2 <compress VJ 0f 00> <addr 195.64.64.1>] May 21 13:15:06 muso pppd[1020]: sent [IPCP ConfNak id=0x2 <addr 195.64.68.15>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x3 <compress VJ 0f 00> <addr 195.64.64.1>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: sent [IPCP ConfNak id=0x3 <addr 195.64.68.15>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x4 <compress VJ 0f 00> <addr 195.64.64.1>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: sent [IPCP ConfNak id=0x4 <addr 195.64.68.15>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x5 <compress VJ 0f 00> <addr 195.64.64.1>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: sent [IPCP ConfNak id=0x5 <addr 195.64.68.15>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x6 <compress VJ 0f 00> <addr 195.64.64.1>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: sent [IPCP ConfRej id=0x6 <addr 195.64.64.1>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x7 <addrs 195.64.64.1 195.64.69.173> <compress VJ 0f 00>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: sent [IPCP ConfRej id=0x7 <addrs 195.64.64.1 195.64.69.173>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x8 <compress VJ 0f 00>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: sent [IPCP ConfAck id=0x8 <compress VJ 0f 00>] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: ioctl(SIOCADDRT) device route: Network is down(100) May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: sent [IPCP TermReq id=0x2 "Interface configuration failed"] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: rcvd [IPCP TermAck id=0x9] May 21 13:15:07 muso pppd[1020]: sent [LCP TermReq id=0x2 "No network protocols running"] May 21 13:15:08 muso pppd[1020]: Hangup (SIGHUP) May 21 13:15:08 muso pppd[1020]: Modem hangup May 21 13:15:08 muso pppd[1020]: Connection terminated.
