Thanks Oliver,
        I had already checked the connections and stuff like that and
I don't believe in luck. That notwithstanding, I take your point that my
port is knackered ... The thing is where on earth am I going to find
someone to fix a 486 motherboard and at what cost .. I asked scan for the
price of an I/O card, it cost almost as much as I bought the board in the
first place. I think my best bet is to buy another one ... What a waste!!
