Yes. That's true. Sometimes ago I had the same problems. There have to be fully qualified domain names in /etc/hosts.lpd (as e.g. in /etc/hosts). Something like this: # /etc/hosts.lpd: list of hosts that are allowed to use the printing # services of this machine.
