I suggest using a new kernel where ne2000 support is built in, then the kernel will detect the card and it's parameters. Use make-kpkg to build a new kernel and install using dpkg. To make the module work you probably need a line similiar to ne io=0x300,irq=10 If you don't want or know how to build a kernel and are using a standard ide harddrive 586, I have a kernel built which should work for you.
