Hi, I had the same problem recently with the same motherboard. Changing the 'PCI Latency' in the BIOS from 0 to 32 completly eliminated this phenomenon. Since then there is no problems with bus mastering or hdparm from bo (kernel 2.0.33). My HDD is a Quantum 1.6 G.
