I'm a bit unsure if it's safe to use procmail with qmail. I can pipe incoming mail through procmail, into various folders. I've tested it and it works, sorting my incoming mail into several folders.
Currently I use emacs + vm to read mail. It takes mail from my ~/Mailbox, and copies it to ~/Mail/inbox, I assume this is to avoid file locking so that if new mail comes in while I'm reading mail everything will be cool. If I use vm to view the folders created by procmail directly, this process won't occur. I'll be reading a mailbox that could well have something added to it, and that would be bad I think. So can someone tell me how file locking works under linux (laymans terms) and specifically if my mail will work safely this way? As always I'm keen to learn. david.. -- Binary Bar - Australia's first free access internet bar/cafe/gallery. 243 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia. 5pm - 1am http://www.binary.net.au -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
