You might not be able to get this mail, if your disk is REALLY full,
there's noplace to store the incoming message ...
> (cd /usr ; tar cvf - . )
should've put the tarfile in ., which would be /usr, except that using
"f -" means tar writes to stdout, so probably nothing was even written on
your disk. Try doing ls -l in /usr to see where the really big files are.
