The debian lyx beta package is available from ftp.debian.org ... I'd hit the package search page at http://www.debian.org/packages.html and search for it. A note: the lyx page there is buggy; in addition to the lyx package you'll find there, you'll need to install the xforms0.88 package. lyx is a mostly-WYSIWYG front-end for LaTeX.
