I think that's the problem - is there a way to set this 'manually'? Dselect chokes on about 4 packages, all of which require mail-transport except smail, which has this FQDN error. I had reinstalled Debian from scratch, no sign of ethernet anyplace, just PPP; set PC name as Linux, network/domain name as servcom.com (my ISP) and all appropriate IP addresses...
