I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Do you want xconsole to move, or do you want it to look different? I don't run xdm, but using startx and afterstep wm, I can move xconsole with the titlebar. Once with fvwm I couldn't move an app, even when I right clicked and did a 'move'. This works for me: /usr/bin/fetchmail -v > /dev/console 2>&1 Sometimes my xconsole doesn't update the display unless it's focused, or until I resize it, but usually it work ok--I don't use it very much, though.
