Adaptec controllers are usually referenced by the chipset rather than the model number, so you want to enable the aic7xxx driver. Some have good luck with this, some don't have any luck at all!! (Adaptec isn't too keen on supporting free software :/ ) There is a mailing list but I can't find the address.
