Dear Debian fellows, I am a longtime Debian fan and have installed it on many machines including my previous Thinkpads (755CD and 760CD). I now have a new 760E and wanted to install from scratch. Unfortunately the boot floppy hangs.
boot: <ENTER> Loading root.bin .................. Loading linux ................. _ <- hangs here before uncompressing Linux I believe I even tried the boot parameter floppy=thinkpad to no avail ... I tried using the very same HDD (1.2GB) I succesfully installed to in my 760CD. No luck. Tried installling (succesfully) on my 760CD with the same disk and popping the newly installed base Debian system back into the 760E but the boot hangs. Any help out there ??????? Thank you very much. Bob Alexander PS Debian 1.3.1r6 with kernel 2.0.30 Main difference between 760CD and 760E is that the latter is a P150 PCI based while the former is a P90 EISA box. -- Robert J.
