I thought this was normal.  It means the kernel's noticed you've got a
different CD-ROM in than last time it looked.

The exact error message would help.  Also, what do you get in
`dmesg | more' starting from the "ide:" line?

If it didn't recognise it properly (rare now) maybe adding "hdd=cdrom"
will help.
