  This sort of works - I can get in, but the CONTENTS directory is an empty 
one. 
   I used to be able to get my hands on all the files, but this "broke" 
something like
   3 months ago. I remember NOT upgrading or fiddling with mc at the time - it 
   was something else that did it. And I do have similar entries as below 
correctly
   in my mc.ext. Mc does also install mc.ext file in /etc - which one does get 
read
   last, or is the "right" one, anybody?

  Yes, it's very handy, just like all of mc is. It is one of those things that 
prevent 
  losing hair, when fiddling with a lot of files.
