Are you sure? According to RFC 974, "Each MX matches a domain name with two pieces of data, a preference value ... and the name of a host." There's no mention about IP addresses, and all examples use host names. Also, in RFC 1035, [quote]: EXCHANGE A <domain-name> which specifies a host willing to act as a mail exchange for the owner name.
