Does anyone know if the Debian kernel in the Infomagic Dec 1996 CDROM distribution is broken for modules?
I have found an old 486 machine and put my Debian HD in it. After recompiling the kernel to use modules as much as possible, the new kernel does not boot properly and either gives a panic while trying to mount the filesystem (when the filesystems are in modules) or hangs after that (once I have made the filesystems part of the kernel with a recompile). This evening, I'll try to remove all module options and we'll see how it works. I also have the April issue of Infomagic's CDROM set. Is the Debian source code in that CDROM set broken or can I use that to build a newer kernel? Ben -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
